Renting a property before you buy can be a great way of getting to know an area and deciding if you like it.
The property market is frantic both with property to buy or let being in very short supply.
I recently had clients who had exchanged contracts on their own home and needed somewhere to live ‘between moves’.
In addition to the short supply of homes to rent; the fact that any available were being sought after by many renters and the chance of securing it reduced, many landlords now require a 12 month tenancy. For them, this was too long.
All this was against my clients so after discussion they decided to take a winter let of a holiday home. This made a lot of sense as the property comes fully furnished to a high standard and all bills are included. It’s in a great coastal location and they can spend the next few months exploring without the crowds of holidaymakers. They can put their furniture in store and the let is for 6 months and then on a rolling contract which should be ample time for them to move into a new home.
Devon is fortunate in that there are 1000’s of holiday homes and a supply of winter lets.
