Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF) is a registered charity dedicated to supporting patients with blood cancer and related disorders attending the Haematology Centre at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (RD&E) . Established by Dr Miles Joyner in 1980 and registered in 1987, ELF has grown to become the leading patient-led support organisation for families affected by blood cancer across the South West .
ELF’s support network is designed to lighten the load at every stage of the patient journey. Their services include transport to and from hospital appointments; counselling; housing for families needing to stay overnight; practical help at home; financial guidance; complementary therapies; and legal advice—all offered free of charge to those in need . Over the years, ELF has played a vital role in funding and developing the RD&E Haematology Centre itself, including the critical Yarty Ward care unit, research projects, specialist equipment, nursing staff and support roles .
Exeter Business Club is proud to make ELF our 2025–26 charity partner. As a free member, they will benefit from visibility at our weekly meetings, presenting their mission and work direct to our membership. Our annual charity quiz night will specifically benefit ELF, raising funds and awareness in a friendly, engaging setting. Additionally, club members will actively support any campaign or fundraising event that ELF undertakes, offering time, energy and professional reach.
Together, we hope to make a meaningful impact for families in Devon living with blood cancer—helping both to raise funds and to shine a spotlight on the compassionate, practical care that ELF delivers every day.
